Barnes

Barnes is a district in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, located 5.3 miles southwest of Charing Cross in a bend of the River Thames. It was founded by the Anglo-Saxons as Berne, and it was initially a part of the historic county of Surrey. Barnes became known for its riverside housing (especially its 18th and 19th-century buildings), its convenience and arts shopping on its high street, and its riverside walk. It later became a ward of Richmond upon Thames, and it had 21,218 residents in 2011.
