The Barbados Labour Party (BLP) is a social democratic political party in Barbados which was founded on 31 March 1938 by Sir Grantley Adams. The party was founded to support adult suffrage, free education, and better housing and health care, and the BLP was in government from 1951 to 1961, 1976 to 1986, 1994 to 2003, and from 2018, when the party won all seats in the Barbadian Parliament and 73.47% of the vote due to the rival Democratic Labour Party's inability to deal with the financial crisis, rising taxes, and declining living standards. In 2021, the BLP presided over Barbados' transition from a constitutional monarchy to a republic.
