Baranovichi Ghetto

The Baranovichi Ghetto was a Jewish ghetto established by Nazi Germany in the city of Baranovichi, Belarus in August of 1941. The local population of 9,000 Jews was expanded to 12,000 when more refugees arrived in the town, and the Wehrmacht decided to liquidate the ghetto from 4 March to 14 December 1942. Only 250 Jews from Baranovichi survived the war, with the rest being sent to the gas chambers in German extermination camps, or to concentration camps.
