Bank Junction

Bank Junction is a major road junction in the City of London where nine streets converge and traffic is controlled by traffic lights and give-way lines. Threadneedle Street, Cornhill, Lombard Street, Mansion House Place, Walbrook, Queen Victoria Street, Poultry, Mansion House Street, and Princes Street meet at the junction, while King William Street begins just south of the junction, leading off Lombard Street. The Bank of England stands on the northeast corner of the Bank Junction, while the Royal Exchange sits across the street. Outside the main entrance to the Royal Exchange is an equestrian statue of the Duke of Wellington erected in June 1844, while the London Troops War Memorial and a statue of James Henry Greathead also stand outside the Exchange. The Bank tube station of the London Underground, built in 1900, is situated under the surrounding pavements.
