The Bank Hapoalim bombing occurred on 24 January 1974 when PFLP member Carlos the Jackal tossed a bomb into the Bank Hapoalim in London, England, injuring one person and causing some interior damage. The bomb was a plastic grenade wrapped in a brown-colored package, and Carlos threw it into the doorway at 11:00 AM, briskly walking away as the bomb exploded inside of the bank. Employee Janet Kipling was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and flying debris caused other damage. The bombing was one of many terrorist attacks carried out against Israeli interests in Western Europe by PFLP-EO during the 1970s, although it is regarded as a failure due to its minimal damage.
