Banffshire is a historic county in northern Scotland, with Banff serving as its capital. It borders the Moray Firth to the north, Moray and Inverness-shire to the west, and Aberdeenshire to the south. The region remained predominantly Catholic until after the Reformation, and the region was a Royalist stronghold during the Scottish Civil War and the English Civil War.
