The Balochs are an Iranian people who inhabit Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and parts of the Arabian Peninsula. About 50% of Balochs live in the Balochistan region of Pakistan, 40% in Sindh, and a significant number live in the region of Punjab, Pakistan. The Balochs speak the Baloch language (using Urdu as a lingua franca) and adhere to Sunni Islam, and they have struggled to gain autonomy in both Iran and Pakistan.
