Baldwin IV of Flanders (980-30 May 1035) was Count of Flanders from 987 to 1035, succeeding Arnulf II and preceding Baldwin V.
Biography[]
Baldwin was the son of Count Arnulf II of Flanders, and he succeeded his father as Count of Flanders in 987. He was granted Zeeland as a fief by Holy Roman Emperor Henry II, and he received Valenciennes in 1013 and Saint-Omer in 1020. He also enlarged the harbor and city of Bruges, and he died in 1035.
