Baimadajie Angwang

Baimadajie Angwang (born 1987) was a Tibetan-American NYPD police officer and alleged Chinese spy. Angwang was born in Tibet, the son of Chinese government officials and the brother of a People's Liberation Army soldier; he later emigrated to the United States. A resident of Williston Park, Long Island, Angwang worked at the 111th precinct in Bayside, Queens as a member of the department's community affair unit; he was also a US Army reservist out of Fort Dix and Sergeant of the US Marine Corps. On 21 September 2020, he was charged with spying on Tibetans living in New York City on behalf of the Chinese government, selling information to two officials at the Chinese consulate. He faced up to 55 years in prison, and he was considered a flight risk by the NYPD.
