Baibars II (1270-1310) was the Mameluke Sultan of Egypt from April 1309 to 5 March 1310, interrupting al-Nasir Muhammad's terms.
Biography[]
Baibars al-Jashankir was born in 1270, and he served as a mamluk under Sultan Qalawun. He then served under Qalawun's sons al-Ashraf Khalil and al-Nasir Muhammad, putting down a 1302 rebellion in Upper Egypt and defeating the Mongols at the 1303 Battle of Shaqhab. In 1309, he took the throne after al-Nasir Muhammad was compelled to abdicate, but al-Nasir returned to Egypt in 1310 and had Baibars executed.
