Bahram Afzali (1938-25 February 1984) was the commander of Iran's Iranian Navy from 1980 to 1983.
Biography[]
Bahram Afzali was born in 1938 and became an engineer and captain in the Imperial Iranian Navy while Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi was still in power. After the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Afzali became the new commander of the Iranian Navy in 1980. He aided in the sinking of the Iraqi Navy on the 28-29 November 1980 Operation Morvarid during the Iran-Iraq War, but in 1983 he was arrested for allegedly being a spy of the Soviet Union. Afzali was killed by the government on 25 February 1984.
