Bah Ndaw

Bah Ndaw (23 August 1950-) was President of Mali from 25 September 2020 to 26 May 2021, interrupting Assimi Goita's terms.

Biography[]

Bah Ndaw was born in San, Mali in 1950, and he joined the Malian Army in 1973 and was educated in the Soviet Union before becoming aide-de-camp to President Moussa Traore and serving as Minister of Defense from 2014 to 2015 during the Malian Civil War. In 2020, he took part in the coup against President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, and, on 21 September 2020, coup leader Assimi Goita stood down to let Ndaw take office as President, serving as his Vice-President. Ndaw was inaugurated on 25 September, and he promised to fight against corruption and electoral fraud. However, Ndaw himself was deposed in the 2021 Malian coup d'etat on the night of 24 May 2021, and Goita returned to the presidency.
