Badulf Smith

Badulf Smith (born 826) was an Anglo-Saxon blacksmith from Oxford, Wessex. In 871, he was paid 10 silver pieces by the exiled Ealdorman Uhtred of Bebbanburg to forge a warrior's sword to last a lifetime, and he embedded Uhtred's heirloom broach into the sword. Badulf also warned Uhtred that five Danes and Saxons were searching for him and his companion Brida, and he told Uhtred to make his new sword "sing".
