Bad Boy Aku

Bad Boy Aku (born 1961) was a Japanese punk rock musician who served as the bassist for the "Yokomichi Silvers" during the 1980s.

Biography[]

Aku was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1961, and he befriended fellow rock musicians Kyo and Tarashi and formed a band, the Yokomichi Silvers, during the 1980s. After a one-time gig dressed in the yanki style won the band a large following among Japan's rebellious youths, the band was forced to conform to the hooligan image, with Aku adopting the nickname "Bad Boy", although he had never committed a crime and spent most of his time helping the elderly. On 12 December 1988, the band was scheduled to hold a concert and meet-and-greet in Kabukicho's Theater Square, causing them great concern over their facade. However, Kyo convinced the former yakuza Kazuma Kiryu to teach the band how to appear like hooligans, and he suggested that the mostly-quiet Aku make up a story about how he had, as a preschooler, smashed several gangs to rescue his childhood sweetheart. When the time came for the band to perform and hold their meet-and-greet, the band received a rave response from the yanki crowd, especially after Aku shared how he had supposedly rescued his sweetheart Non-chan by wrecking eight gangs in a shirtless fight atop a tower. After the concert, the band members thanked Kiryu for his help and promised that they would take their band to new heights of fame.
