The BM-8-24, better known as the Katyusha rocket launcher, was a rocket artillery piece built by the Soviet Union from 1939, seeing action in several wars since World War II in various countries. The name "Katyusha" was taken from a Mikhail Isakovsky wartime song, and the BM-8-24 has recently seen use in the Iraqi Civil War.
