BGM-71 TOW

The BGM-71 TOW is an anti-tank missile that was developed by the Hughes Aircraft Company in the United States in 1970. Since then, TOW missiles have seen use with both the US Military, the military of Israel, and other customers of the United States, seeing action in the Vietnam War, Lebanese Civil War, Iran-Iraq War, Gulf War, Somali Civil War, Iraq War, and Syrian Civil War. The USA supplied TOW missiles to some moderate Syrian Opposition rebels after 2013 in a train-and-equip program, but defections from the moderates to jihadists allowed for the al-Nusra Front and the Islamic State to have access to TOWs.
