Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht (BSW) - Für Vernunft und Gerechtigkeit, known in English as BSW – For Reason and Justice, is a left-wing populist political party in Germany that was founded on 26 September 2023 by Die Linke politician Sahra Wagenknecht as a rebuke of Die Linke's increased focus on cultural issues and distraction from economic justice. On leaving Die Linke, Wagenknecht was already a powerful political leader, as opinion polls indicated that 20% of Germans would be open to voting for a party led by Wagenknecht, as well as 32% of voters in the former East Germany. The BSW's initial core supporters were socially conservative East German voters who were critical of immigration, and more AfD voters supported her than former Die Linke voters. The BSW called for further restrictions on immigration, a plan for deglobalization, opposition to green politics, ending military aid to Ukraine, a negotiated settlement to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, a pro-Russian foreign policy, economic socialism, social conservatism, and anti-Zionism. The party combined far-left economics with right-wing views on immigration and gender diversity, and Wagenknecht considered Die Linke and Die Grunen to be the BSW's main opponents.
