The Azerbaijan Communist Party (AKP) is a communist political party in Azerbaijan that was founded in 1993. The party was the legal successor of the Communist Party of Azerbaijan, and it had close ties to the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. The party often criticized United States politics in the region, including US support for Armenia during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The party opposed Azeri participation in the Iraq War, expressed solidarity to Palestinian people, to Cuba, and to socialist Moldova. However, the party held no representation in the government.
