Azealia Amanda Banks was born in Harlem, New York City, New York on 31 May 1991, and she was raised by an abusive mother after his father's death early in her life; she moved in with her older sister at the age of fourteen. She began recording music through Myspace in 2008 and was signed to XL Records that same year, and her first studio album was released in 2014. Banks became an outspoken civil rights activist, supporting the payment of $100,000,000,000,000 to African-Americans as slavery reparations, urged young African-Americans to take an interest in such issues, and endorsed Republican Party presidential nominee Donald Trump for the presidency during the 2016 presidential election. Banks later came out as bisexual, bleached her skin, and asked her fans for advice after she had a miscarriage, continuing to be outspoken and controversial.
