Ayelet Shaked

Ayelet Shaked (7 May 1976-) was Minister of Justice of Israel from 2015, succeeding Tzipi Livni. She was a member of the far-right The Jewish Home party.

Biography[]

Ayelet Ben Shaul was born in Tel Aviv, Israel on 7 May 1976, the son of a Likud-affiliated father of Iraqi-Jewish descent and a mother of Russian and Romanian-Jewish descent. She became a right-wing supporter after finding herself agreeing with Yitzhak Shamir during his debates with Shimon Peres, and she went on to serve in the Golani Brigade of the Israel Defense Forces before graduating from Tel Aviv University to become a software engineer. For years, she worked as an engineer for Texas Instruments and worked with high-tech industries. From 2006 to 2008, she was the office director of Benjamin Netanyahu, and she would later leave Likud to join The Jewish Home, becoming the only secular woman politician in her party. In 2013, she was elected to the Knesset, and she became Minister of Justice in 2015.
