Aydinids

The Aydinids were a Turkish dynasty who ruled over parts of western Anatolia from 1308 to 1426, with Ayasolik serving as their capital. The Aydinids emerged amid the power vacuum created by the disintegration of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum, with Aydinoglu Mehmet Bey and his son Umur of Aydin overseeing a rising naval power of the Aegean. The Christians retaliated with the Smyrniote crusades from 1343 to 1351, which briefly succeeded in capturing Smyrna from the Aydinids. In 1390, the Aydinids were incorporated into the Ottoman Empire for the first time, but they regained their independence following Timur's invasion of Anatolia in 1402. It was not until 1425 that the Ottomans re-established their permanent rule over the Aydinid lands.
