The Autonomous Province of Kosovo and Metohija is a de jure province of Serbia that constitutes the de facto independent nation of Kosovo. The Autonomous Provine of Kosovo and Metohija succeeded SAP Kosovo, which was a province of Yugoslavia until its renaming in 1992. The territory is located in the southern party of Serbia, and it includes the regions of Kosovo and Metohija. Pristina is the de jure capital of the province, which had a population of 1,780,021 people in 2017.
