The Austrian Nazi Party (DNSAP) was an Austrian national socialist political party that existed from May 1918 to 1938. The party originated in 1893 as the German National Workers' League, a collection of laborers, apprentices, and labor unionists from the railroad, mining, and textile industries who supported nationalism as the result of conflicts with the non-German-speaking workers (especially in the railroad industry). In 1903, they reorganized as the German Workers' Party in Austria (DAP) and the party finally changed its name to the German National Socialist Workers' Party (DNSAP) in May 1918. After 1930, most DNSAP members became supporters of German Nazi Party leader Adolf Hitler, and they supported German nationalism and unification with Germany, while their fascist rivals, the Fatherland Front (VF), opposed a union with Germany. Estimates suggest that around 30-40% of the Austrian Nazi electorate previously oted for the SPO, specially during the economic turmoil of the 1930s, while 20-30% previously voted for the Christian Social Party and 10-15% were former national liberals. In 1934, the DNSAP was banned after a failed coup that killed VF leader Engelbert Dollfuss, but the party assisted in carrying out a 1938 coup that brought about the Anschluss with Nazi Germany. The party merged into the Nazi Party after the annexation.

After World War II, around 10-15% of OVP voters, 5-10% of SPD voters, 1-3% of KPO voters, and 15-20% of FPO voters were former Nazi Party members.
