Australian Army

The Australian Army is Australia's military land force, founded on 1 March 1901. The army was formed as the amalgamation of the six separate colonial military forces, and it fought in the Second Boer War (1899-1902), World War I (1914-18), World War II (1939-45), the Korean War (1950-3), the Malayan Emergency (1950-60), the Indonesia-Malaysia Confrontation (1962-66), the Vietnam War (1962-73), in the Afghanistan War (2001-), and the Iraq War (2003-). In 2015, the Australian Army had a strength of 30,764 regular soldiers and 14,662 active reservists.
