
Ausilio of San Severino (born 832) was the bishop preferatus of the Papal States in 867.
Biography[]
Ausilio was born in 832 to a lowborn family of Catholic Italians, and he was ordained as a priest. Ausilio was granted the bishopric of San Severino in the Marche region of Italy, and he was later consecrated as a cardinal, gaining a seat on the College of Cardinals. He became the bishop preferatus under Pope Nicholas I's rule, virtually being his heir apparent.
