
Aurelius of Asturias (740-774) was King of Asturias from 768 to 774, succeeding Fruela I and preceding Silo.
Biography[]
Aurelius was born in Leon, Spain in 740 AD, the son of Fruela of Cantabria, the cousin of Fruela I of Asturias, and the brother of Bermudo I of Asturias. After Fruela assassinated his brother and was in turn murdered, Aurelius became the new King of Asturias in 768. Aurelius presided over a mostly peaceful reign, exchanging brides with the Muslim rulers of the south and putting down a serf rebellion. He died in 774.
