Aurelio's death

Aurelio Borgia Matuzzi was the son of Pier Giovanni Matuzzi and Isabella Borgia, making him the grandson of Pope Alexander VI (Rodrigo Borgia). His father died when he was young, and he became very protective of his mother; in 1499, when his mother came to meet her father to reconcile with him, Aurelio threatened to kill the Pope with a dagger if he harmed her. Isabella calmed him, telling him that he should have stayed at his home, but the Pope was pleased to meet him, as he was from the same family. He would later return to school at Pisa, and, upon graduation, he travelled the peninsula working as a priest wherever one was needed. In 1501, he told Pope Alexander about his travels, and Pope Alexander decided to make him his Papal secretary, replacing Francesc Gacet. On 18 August 1503, he was cornered and killed by rioters after the news of the Pope's death became public.
