Aurelia Cotta (120 BC-31 July 54 BC) was the wife of Gaius Julius Caesar and the mother of Julius Caesar.
Biography[]
Aurelia Cotta was born in 120 BC, a daughter of consul Lucius Aurelius Cotta and the sister of consuls Gaius Aurelius Cotta, Marcus Aurelius Cotta, and Lucius Aurelius Cotta. She married Gaius Julius Caesar, and they had three children: Julia Major, Julia Minor, and Julius Caesar. A strict and respectable woman, Aurelia was held to be an ideal Roman matron, and she died in 54 BC.
