
Augustine Prevost (22 August 1723 – 4 May 1786) was a Major-General of Great Britain during the French and Indian War and the American Revolutionary War.
Biography[]
Augustine Prevost was born in Geneva, Switzerland on 22 August 1723 to an exiled Huguenot family from France. He joined the 60th Royal American Regiment of Foot in 1756 and was wounded in the French and Indian War. As a colonel, he fought in the American Revolutionary War and was stationed in St. Augustine, Florida. In 1778 he invaded Georgia and defended the city of Savannah against the Americans, defeating the American and French alliance. He died in 1786, and his descendants live in the United States and Peru.
