Auguste Ravez

Auguste Simon Hubert Marie Ravez (21 October 1770-3 September 1849) was a Royalist politician who served as President of the Chamber of Deputies from 1818 to 1827 and as a member of the Chamber of Peers from 1829 to 1830.

Biography[]

Auguste Simon Hubert Marie Ravez was born in Lyon, France in 1770, and he was forced to flee his staunchly-republican hometown during the French Revolution, becoming a magistrate in Bordeaux. In 1816, following the Bourbon Restoration, he was elected to the Chamber of Deputies for Gironde, and he was a supporter of the Ultra-Royalists at court. King Louis XVIII of France created him a non-noble Chevalier du Saint-Espirit, and he went on to serve as a member of the Chamber of Peers from 1829 until the 1830 July Revolution. Ravez died in 1849.
