August 2016 Gaziantep bombing

The August 2016 Gaziantep bombing occurred on 20 August 2016 when an Islamic State suicide bomber detonated his explosives at a Kurdish wedding party in Gaziantep, southern Turkey, killing 57 people and injuring 66 people. The bombing led to Turkey's invasion of northern Syria four days later, and Turkey assisted in creating a buffer zone between its border and the Islamic State-controlled territory in Syria.
