Atsumori Tashiro

Atsumori Tashiro was a general of the Toyotomi.

Biography[]

Atsumori Tashiro was one of the brave warriors from Japan who joined Hideyori Toyotomi in his last stand in Osaka Castle in 1615, and he led a unit of bow samurai. Along with Kiyomori Niwa and a few other Toyotomi units, he succeeded in routing the Tokugawa army at the Siege of Osaka Castle. However, their lord Hideyori Toyotomi and almost all of the other units were dead (their units were really the last units in a salvageable state), so they retreated from the castle before any more Tokugawa units could arrive, which left Osaka in Tokugawa hands. Later, Atsumori and Kiyomori decided to surrender their remaining 800 troops, as the Tokugawa were likely to return with thousands more troops.
