Ataollah Salehi

Ataollah Salehi (born 9 March 1950) was a general of the Islamic Republic of Iran during the Iran-Iraq War.

Biography[]

Ataollah Salehi was born on 9 March 1950 in Tehran, Iran and graduated from the military academy in 1971. He fought in the Iran-Iraq War against the army of Iraq, and he was appointed as Chief-of-Staff of the Artesh (Iranian army) in 2005, succeeding Mohammad Salimi. He criticized the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps for ignoring the role of the Artesh in the war, as they falsified information to make it seem as if they played a bigger role in the conflict.
