The Association of Free Democrats (BFD) was a liberal political coalition and, after 27 March 1990, political party that existed in East Germany from February to August 1990. The party was created as a merger of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDPD), Free Democratic Party, and German Forum Party, and it was dominated by the LDPD. In March 1990, the National-Democratic Party of Germany (NDPD) merged into the BFD, which transformed into a political party. In August 1990, the BFD merged into the Free Democratic Party of a united Germany.
