Ashwath Shenoy

Ashwath Shenoy (1687-Summer 1750) was an Amir-al-bahr (Admiral) of the Maratha Confederacy. He traded goods in the East Indies.

Biography[]

Ashwath Shenoy was from Ahmedabad, and in 1727 took part in an ocean voyage to the East Indies. In 1728, at the age of 41, he was made the admiral of the fleet and traded with the inhabitants of the islands. In summer of 1750 he died of illness at the age of 63 while trading with the Indonesians.
