Ashland VA

Ashland is a town in Hanover County, Virginia. It was named after Henry Clay's Kentucky estate of "Ashland", and it grew from being a square mile upon incorporation in 1858 to having 7.16 square miles. In 2010, Ashland had a population of 7,225 people. Due to the large concentration of college professors in the area, it was a rare Democratic stronghold in a mostly-Republican suburban and rural area of Virginia.
