Ashina

The Ashina are a Japanese samurai clan which emerged during the Sengoku period. Descended from the Taira through Yoshiaki Miura, the Ashina claimed the shugo of Aizu, and they became rivals with the Date clan, another clan from northeastern Honshu. In 1589, the clan was destroyed by Masamune Date at the Battle of Suriagehara.
