The Ashbal al-Tawheed Academy means "lion cubs of monotheism", and it was founded in Idlib Government by the al-Qaeda offshoot al-Nusra Front during the Syrian Civil War. The school's students were all Sunni Muslim children who were relatives of al-Nusra fighters, and the academy was designed to educate children as jihadists. The academy trained students not only from Syria, but also from other Arab countries, or even non-Arab countries such as Uzbekistan. The academy indoctrinated the youths into Salafism and jihadism, as the teachers taught them about the beliefs of Osama bin Laden and his anti-imperialist views. The students sang songs about fighting the Jews and scaring America, and the school succeeded in brainwashing the youths of Syria with an Islamist outlook on life.
