The Ash'ari school of theology holds that the Qur'an is eternal and exact, that full comprehension of Allah is beyond human understanding and that moral truths can only be taught be means of revelation. Imam Abu al-Hasan al-Ash'ari founded the school during the Islamic Golden Age, partly in response to various debates about God's being. It is one of the three major schools of islamic thought, along with the Athari and Maturidi schools.
