Asad Ghanma (14 February 1930-18 July 2006) was a Brigadier-General of the Jordanian Army who served from 1945 to 1972. His service included the Samu Incident of 1966, the Six-Day War in 1967, and the Battle of Karameh in 1968.
Biography[]
Asad Ghanma was born on 14 February 1930 in al-Husn, Jordan to an Orthodox Christian family. Ghanma served as a Brigadier-General in the Jordanian Army and commanded Jordanian forces in the Samu Incident in 1966 against Israel, and he received the Medal of Bravery from King Hussein I of Jordan for bravery in the battle. Ghanma was also a general during the Six-Day War the following year, and in 1968 he fought against both Israel and the PLO at the Battle of Karameh. He retired in 1972 and died in 2006 at the age of 76.
