Arwine of Wihtwara (680-747) was Earl of Wihtwara from 686 to 747, succeeding Arwald and preceding Wihthere.
Biography[]
Arwine was born on the Isle of Wight in 680, the grandson of King Arwald of Wihtwara. In 686, Arwald and both of his sons were killed by King Caedwalla of Wessex, and Wessex proceeded to engage in genocide against the native Jutes and replace them with West Saxons. Arwine became Earl of Wihtwara in 686, ruling as a vassal of Wessex. He died in 747.
