Article 1 - Democratic and Progressive Movement (MDP), also known as the Democrats and Progressives, was a social democratic political party in Italy that was founded on 25 February 2017 by Roberto Speranza. The party was founded from a left-wing split in the Democratic Party of Italy, with some of its members being discontented with Matteo Renzi's moderate Third Way ideology. Most of its leaders were former Democrats of the Left members, and the party was affiliated with the leftist Free and Equal coalition. In 2023, the party merged into the Democratic Party.
