Arthur Croghey

Arthur Croghey (1818-1882) was an Irish landlord and lawyer during the 19th century. Born in County Carlow, the son of British Army officer and Tory MP Patrick Croghey, Arthur was raised in a conservative Anglican household. He thus opposed the repeal of the Corn Laws amid the Great Famine, even as his tenant farmers starved, and he was a stalwart supporter of the Irish Conservative Party until his death in 1882. He left his farm to his son Edmund Croghey.
