
Arthur Capper (14 July 1865 – 19 December 1951) was Governor of Kansas (R) from 11 January 1915 to 13 January 1919 (succeeding George H. Hodges and preceding Henry Justin Allen) and a US Senator from 4 March 1919 to 3 January 1949 (succeeding William Howard Thompson and preceding Andrew Frank Schoeppel).
Biography[]
Arthur Capper was born in Garnett, Kansas in 1865, and he became a newspaper publisher and radio station owner before entering politics as a Republican Party member. He served as Governor from 1915 to 1919 and in the US Senate from 1919 to 1949, supporting Franklin D. Roosevelt's New Deal policies. He retired in 1949 and died in 1951.
