Arthur "Art" O'Toole (1972-) was an Irish Fianna Fail TD and Leader of the Opposition from 2023.
Biography[]
Arthur O'Toole was born in Cork, County Cork, Ireland in 1972, and he worked as a financial advisor before entering politics with the conservative-liberal and Irish republican Fianna Fáil party. O'Toole led his party into first place at the 2023 general election, seizing 25.39% of the vote and 8/30 seats in the Dáil Éireann, followed by Fine Gael's 20.45% and 6/30 seats. O'Toole won the support of 12 TDs (from his own party, the Irish Labor Party, and Aontu) to Fine Gael leader Elliot Condon's 18 TDs (from People Before Profit, the Green Party, the Social Democrats, and Fine Gael), narrowly losing the premiership.
