Arnthi Spedo

Arnthi Spedo (died 398 BC) was the Etruscan lauchume of Veii during the 4th century BC.

Biography[]

Arnthi Spedo was born in the Etruscan city-state of Veii, and he became its lauchume (king) by the turn of the 4th century BC. He went to war with the Roman Republic to the south, which engaged in a war of attrition with him; they captured the port of Cisra in 399 BC, but they engaged in an on-and-off siege of Veii, which they were unable to immediately conquer due to the Veiians' numerical superiority. In 398 BC, he fought against Rome at the Battle of Veii, during which he was slain.
