The Army of the Holy War was an army of Palestinian irregulars that existed from 1947 to 1948, led by Abd al-Qadir al-Husayni and Hassan Salameh. It had around 10,000 fighters during the Palestinian Civil War and 1948 Arab-Israeli War, and it grew more ineffective as the Arab states intervened in the war against Israel after May 1948. Husayni was killed in action during the war, and In October 1948 the Arab Legion of Transjordan forcibly disarmed the Army of the Holy War's last soldiers.
