Armun Dashtaki (14 June 1957-22 October 1977) was an Iranian opposition activist.
Biography[]
Armun Dashtaki was born to a Persian family on 14 June 1957 in Tehran, Iran. His father Hasan Dashtaki was a teacher of Islamic history at primary schools. Dashtaki was raised in a Shi'ite Islamic household and he was taught how to read and write while learning the Quran and Hadith. Dashtaki later attended the University of Tehran, where he joined a group of students who wanted to overthrow Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi. He was a political agitator for many months and he assisted in the formation of many other student movements, and in 1977 he was arrested for misconduct during a riot. In October he was taken by the government SAVAK secret police and killed in the desert due to his opposition to the Shah.
