Armando Torres was born in Washington Heights, New York City in 1983 to a family of immigrants from the Dominican Republic, and he was raised in a housing project next to Luis Fernando Lopez and Henrique Bardas. The trio became involved in criminal activities as teenagers, including the theft of whiskey from their school principal's office. They befriended future Spanish Lords leaders Willy Valerio and the brothers Alfonso and Oscar Gomez, although they would ultimately remain friends, not joining their gang. Following Lopez's arrest, Torres and Bardas became drug dealers on the streets of Inwood, while Lopez became the bodyguard for nightclub owner Tony Prince and his right-hand man in Downtown Manhattan. Torres, Bardas, and Lopez reunited in 2008 to form a partnership, and the three of them stole drugs from other gangs and sold them to street dealers. The trio went from being street dealers to drug kingpins selling drugs to the street dealers, and they grew rich as a result of their theft of drugs from the other gangs.
