Biography[]

Aritatsu Mizuno was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1971, and he came to work at the Men's Entertainment Box on Shichifuku Street in Kabukicho, giving information on Kabukicho's nightlife attractions to customers. He also once lived with Yu Shinmei, a Chinese undocumented immigrant and prostitute for whom he harbored a seemingly unrequited love. Shinmei gave Mizuno a Shangri-La membership card as a token of her appreciation for how nicely he treated her, and, on 11 December, Shinmei sent Kazuma Kiryu to the MEB to ask Mizuno for the card, which she had promised Kiryu in exchange for his help with obtaining falsified citizenship papers for her. Mizuno reluctantly agreed to sell the membership card, and Kiryu persuaded Mizuno to sell it to him for ¥300,000, which Mizuno hesitantly agreed to. Mizuno would meet Kiryu a few more times that month as Kiryu sought information on JeweL and other clubs in the neighborhood.
